"Shadows of Light" 2012 oil on canvas 54" x 54"
(Private Collection, Princeton, NJ)
I've made several paintings of this old, abandoned house. It's the William Gulick house in Princeton, built in the late 1800's as the home of a weathy farmer. The house is currently encircled by a chain-link fence and the lower windows are boarded up. The grounds are very overgrown and the yard is somewhat secluded. This is my favorite view from the backyard because of the view through the second story windows into the front. It was spooky even in the daylight. No one knew I was there except anyone who might have been inside.
