"Rear Windows" 2011 oil on canvas 40" x 40"
This is the rear of the William Gulick house in late afternoon light. I used a limited palette of colors for a muted tone. Zinc White, Yellow Ochre, Burnt Umber, Alizarin Crimson, Ultrmarine Blue and Viridian Green. It helped me to concentrate on the light and form without being burdened by color, yet not create a monochrome painting. It might be nice as a black and white painting too.
